Braves shut down by Hyun Jin Ryu as woes in Los Angeles continue

The Atlanta Braves were unable to solve Hyun-Jin Ryu again in a 9-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Justin Turner had a huge game going 4-for-5 at the plate with three home runs for the Dodgers. The Braves will try to avoid a sweep Wednesday night with Mike Foltynewicz squaring off against Clayton Kershaw.

Max Fried leaves game early after being hit in hand by line drive; x-rays negative

As if things couldn’t get any worse for the Braves, Max Fried left Tuesday’s game in the second inning after he was struck in the hand by a line drive in the second inning. X-rays came back negative and Fried is considered day-to-day.

While Shields may be getting some interest, free agent starter Dallas Keuchel is doubling down on seeking a contract closer to what he deems as fair market value. Keuchel recently discussed his situation and his reasons for remaining stubborn in regards to his asking price.

“My asking price and my due diligence is not just out of left field. It has come to me through my own career path, my own career numbers, and then what my market is valued at this point in time,” he told the website. “To this point it hasn’t been matched. It’s been less than what it should be. And this is out of principle, what’s going on right now. I can’t speak for other players. It’s a principle for me. I’m not asking for the world.”

Angels Activate Ohtani, Designate Bourjos, Stratton For Assignment

The Los Angeles Angels activated Shohei Ohtani from the injures list prior to Tuesday’s game. Ohtani hit third as the DH and went 0-for-4 at the plate. He will continue to see action as a hitter this season while he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

A’s Fiers blanks Reds for second career no-hitter

Oakland’s Mike Fiers threw the first no-hitter of the season Tuesday night against the Cincinnati Reds. It was Fiers’ second career no-hitter. He becomes the eighth player in Major League history to throw a no-hitter with multiple teams.
