In order to make room on the active roster, the club optioned RHP Patrick Weigel to Triple-A Gwinnett.
The last time Gausman faced the Nationals he was charged for eight earned runs in just 1+ inning. During his rehab stint, Gausman worked to incorporate a curveball and a cutter into his arsenal. We will see what the results are starting today.
Weigel was called up to the majors for the first time earlier this week but did not get into a game. He will likely see another opportunity down the road at some point.
