Braves bats held quiet as Padres win 4-3
Julio Teheran allowed four runs over seven innings including three homers in a 4-3 loss to the San Diego Padres Tuesday night. Atlanta had their chances offensively but once again struggled to deliver a timely hit in the loss. The series will continue on Wednesday with Max Fried on the mound.
Donaldson scratched with right calf tightness, Camargo to start at third base
Josh Donaldson was scratched from Tuesday’s lineup due to a sore calf. The good news is, it is not the same calf that sidelined him for most of last season. Brian Snitker told MLB.com’s Mark Bowman that they were just trying to stay ahead of the situation with Donaldson.
“We’re just trying to stay ahead of it,” Snitker said. “He’s just going to get treatment, and [we’ll] stay away from him today.”

Mariners Option Mallex Smith To Triple-A
Former Braves outfielder Mallex Smith is headed back to Triple-A to try and workout some early season struggles. The Mariners demoted Smith, who is hitting .165/.255/.247 with a 30 percent strikeout rate, on Tuesday and recalled outfielder Braden Bishop.
Marlins Option Lewis Brinson, Activate Garrett Cooper
It looked like Lewis Brinson might be turning the corner for the Marlins during spring training but that has not translated into regular season success. Brinson was demoted on Tuesday after producing a .190/.240/.321 slash line to go along with a 30 percent strikeout rate. Garrett Cooper was recalled to take his place on the active roster.
A.J. Pollock Likely Headed To Injured List
New Dodgers outfielder A.J. Pollock may be headed to the injured list due to a problem with his elbow. Pollock is reportedly dealing with some sort of infection that is related to prior surgical procedures.
Nationals place Rendon (elbow) on injured list
The Nationals finally placed third baseman Anthony Rendon on the injured list after he sat out seven of the team’s past eight games with a bruised left elbow. Rendon was hit by a pitch in the elbow back on April 20 and has been dealing with soreness and swelling ever since. X-Rays and MRI exams were negative but he still isn’t healthy enough to resume playing.
