With economic discussions scheduled for this week between Major League Baseball and the Players Association, we will soon know the likelihood of a 2020 regular season. While there is significant work that will have to be done by both sides, there is too much at stake to cancel the season altogether due to economic disagreements.
If there is a season, it will look much different than what we are accustomed. Let’s say an 82-game regular season begins in July with an expanded postseason. If the Braves were to win the World Series after playing a truncated season, how would you view it?
As far as I am concerned a championship is a championship. We didn’t put an asterisk on the Braves’ World Series Championship in 1995 which included a 144-game regular season. In fact, I am willing to bet that a lot of people don’t remember that the 95 season was shortened. Granted there is a significant difference in 144 games and just 82. Asterisk or not, I will take a championship any way I can get it.
Let me know what you think in the comments.

ESPN’s Tim Kurkjian shared some wonderful stories about how competitive Smoltz was including a horse game that happened at a Christmas party at Chipper Jones’ house against Ned Yost.
Sunday’s flashback goes back to 2013 and a win over the Mets that featured a rain delay that forced them to complete the game the next day.
