If you watched the Braves’ game last night, it is likely you would not have thought a thing was wrong with Dansby Swanson as he had a big night at the plate including a pair of home runs as the Braves routed the Phillies 12-6.
However, as it turns out, Dansby was feeling some soreness in his quadriceps. While Dansby wanted to stay in the lineup and play through it, the Braves took the cautious (and likely smartest) path and gave him a couple of games off.

With guys like Johan Camargo and Charlie Culberson on the roster, this was an easy decision especially with the All-Star break coming up. While the injury does not appear to be serious, being proactive when there are capable replacements on the roster is a great use of the team’s bench depth and versatility to help insure that Dansby is fully healthy for the second half of the season.
Swanson has been resurgent at the plate during the 2019 season, particularly in regards to his power, while posting a .274/.334/.500 line with 17 home runs in 88 games.
