Braves bludgeoned in 11-2 matinee loss to Padres

Mike Foltynewicz struggled as the Braves wrapped up their homestand with an 11-2 loss to the San Diego Padres. Foltynewicz discussed the velocity drop on his fastball with MLB.com’s Mark Bowman.

“I’m getting guys out, so I’m not worried about [the velocity drop],�? Foltynewicz said. “I’ve just got to get my off-speed where it needs to be. The fastball command has been good. They hit a couple balls well today, but it’s mostly been my slider that hasn’t been working.�?

Braves option Shane Carle to Triple-A

Shane Carle allowed five runs in just one inning of work during Thursday’s loss to the Padres and was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett following the game. The Braves didn’t announce a corresponding roster move but Jonny Venters or Touki Toussaint appear to be options. Venters is currently on a rehab stint with Gwinnett while Toussaint was scratched from his scheduled start on Thursday.

Braves set to begin long road trip in Miami

The Braves will begin a long 10-game road trip on Friday with a three-game series in Miami against the Marlins. Here is a closer look at the pitching matchups we are scheduled to see over the weekend.

Fan confidence in direction of Braves plummets
