Wednesday could be a memorable day as the Braves have reportedly brought Austin Riley to Atlanta with the expectation that he will be added to the major league roster. Ender Inciarte left Tuesday’s game with lower back pain which could open the door for Riley’s debut.
Mike Foltynewicz got battered again as the St. Louis Cardinals handed the Braves a lopsided 14-3 loss on Tuesday snapping a modest three-game winning streak in the process. Folty was tagged for eight runs in just 4 2/3 innings and allowed three home runs.
Braves’ reliever Darren O’Day has begun playing catch again and hopes that this is the start of his road back to Atlanta’s bullpen according to the AJC’s Gabriel Burns. Brian Snitker told reporters on Tuesday that O’Day had been cleared to begin a throwing program. Barring any setbacks, O’Day is still likely weeks away from returning.
The Braves made some roster moves on Tuesday as well adding Jesse Biddle and Wes Parsons to the bullpen while designating veteran Jerry Blevins for assignment. Parsons threw three scoreless innings in Tuesday’s blow out loss but Biddle was not impressive allowing four hits and three runs in just a third of an inning.
FanGraphs’ Eric Longenhagen and Kiley McDaniel have released their second mock draft over at FanGraphs. They project Arizona State outfielder Hunter Bishop to the Braves at No. 9 and high school right-hander Quinn Priester to Atlanta at No. 21.

The New York Yankees acquired first baseman Kendry Morales from the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday for cash or a player to be named later. Morales had been designated for assignment by Oakland on Monday.
The Milwaukee Brewers promoted top prospect Keston Hiura on Tuesday. He went 2-for-3 at the plate in a 6-1 win over the Phillies in his debut.
Major League Baseball placed Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias on seven-day administrative leave after he was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery. Being placed on leave is standard procedure and allows the commissioner’s office time tot gather facts surrounding the incident.
