Braves fall to split-squad Astros 4-3 despite Acuna homer

The Astros jumped out to an early lead on Julio Teheran, with a ground-rule double and two-run homer in the first inning putting the Braves behind 2-0. Kolby Allard followed Teheran, taking over in the third inning and allowing a solo homer with two walks and no strikeouts. A Ronald Acuna solo homer and Sean Kazmar two-run homer accounted for the only scoring by Atlanta on the day.

Dansby, Gausman, Minter all appear to be on the mend

The Braves have seen a rash of injuries plague the roster early in Spring Training, but good news came across the wire on Monday regarding three players with minor ailments. Dansby Swanson, Kevin Gausman, and AJ Minter each are making significant progress according to Mark Bowman.

Snitker proud of son’s career path with Astros

Brian Snitker is not the only member of his family making waves in the coaching ranks, as his son, Troy, is now the hitting coach for the Houston Astros. The two teams squared off on Monday, and as Mark Bowman notes, the elder Snitker is proud of his son’s meteoric rise through the Astros organization.

“I raised him on a baseball field, in the clubhouse and on a bus,” the reigning National League Manager of the Year said. “I remember when Glenn Hubbard gave him a little training glove that they used when he was a kid and hit him ground balls. So I’m probably to blame because he doesn’t know any better but to do the baseball thing.”
