Duvall homers twice, Braves pound three more in 6-5 walkoff win over Miami

The Atlanta Braves homered five times on Sunday including two by Adam Duvall in a 6-5 win over the Miami Marlins.

Duvall looking to rebound after hitting .132

Duvall broke out on Sunday with his first two homers since being acquired from Cincinnati at last the trade deadline last July. Duvall is looking to bounce back this spring and earn a spot on the Braves’ Opening Day roster.

Three more scoreless spring innings for Braves Newcomb

Sean Newcomb tossed three more scoreless innings on Sunday and hasn’t been scored upon in either of his two spring starts. He told the AJC’s Steve Hummer that he is feeling good early in camp.

“I think I have a better grasp on everything mentally,” he said. “I feel more comfortable this year knowing what to expect start-to-start. I’m going out to work on stuff more than going out to show stuff.”

Injury updates on Swanson, Donaldson, Foltynewicz

Speaking of those injuries, Mark Bowman provided some good news on Sunday morning. The Braves are planning to have Dansby Swanson debut on Tuesday with Josh Donaldson tentatively scheduled to be in the lineup on Wednesday. Also, Mike Foltynewicz’s chance to start on Opening Day may be lost but he is expected to resume throwing this week and could be in the rotation for the opening week of the season.
