Here We Go Again: Five Bold Predictions, 2019 Edition

The baseball season is fast approaching (Opening Day is Thursday!), so it's time to get your five bold predictions in for the upcoming season.

For the past three years now I've asked the TC Community to make five bold predictions about the Braves for the upcoming season. When the season is over, I'll review the predictions, looking for the best and worst preseason prognostications in an exercise that tends to make everyone look stupid.

Last year, I expanded the pool of teams and players eligible for predictions to include the rest of the NL East, and I think I'll stick with that this year, too, as the division promises to be an interesting one. Let's try to keep the predictions Braves-centric, though. (As Ivan said last year, "who cares about other teams?")

If you haven't participated in the past, a bold prediction is an unlikely one, though it need not be outrageous. Predicting Acuña to put up a 5-win season when he's projected for about 4 wins by Fangraphs isn't quite bold enough, but predicting a 6 or 7-win season or an NL MVP Award is plenty risky. As Eno Sarris put it, a bold prediction should be "a little bit sane and a little bit insane."

The predictions can be about anything you want -- traditional or advanced MLB stats, team performance, playing-time battles, awards, trades, minor-league affiliates for the Braves, or even the TC Community, including Ivan's cat. If you want to predict Acuña's wRC+, the number of games played by Camargo in the outfield, the amount of time Donaldson spends on the injured list, Julio's win-loss record, Snit's bullpen management and line-up construction, AA's trades, or Ozzie's walk rate, it's all good. Those looking for inspiration can check out last year's predictions or consult the bold predictions made by Fangraphs writers this year here and here. Predictions can be positive or negative.

So, be bold. Be optimistic (or pessimistic). And be prepared to look stupid in six months.
