The Atlanta Braves won again Wednesday night to extend their winning streak to five straight while completing a four-game sweep of the Miami Marlins. However, that wasn’t the big story of the evening after Ronald Acuña Jr was hit by the first pitch thrown by Jose Urena resulting in both benches clearing.
Acuña left the game in the top of the second inning although he may have escaped serious injury. X-rays were negative but the results of a CT scan won’t be available until Thursday. Naturally, the incident dominated the post-game interview session.
“He is my kid and I am going to protect him.”
