What about minor league baseball?

This is your Talking Chop thread for Thursday. We all know the rules. They are here if you need them. We talked about a lost 2020 MLB season yesterday. What will be do without minor league baseball?

I have heard nothing definite, but it looks very unlikely that the minor league season will take place with fans. Without fans, there is no revenue stream. A 30-player active roster and a 20-player taxi squad would cannibalize the AAA team. There will be a minimum of 5 amateurs signed, so that would probably eliminate the need for rookie ball. The rest, I assume, would play out of the spring training sites, if at all.

Will you miss minor league baseball? I will miss the outing, but not necessarily the baseball. Minor league ball, as an experience, is geared around families and eating and drinking. I will miss taking my kid to the park. The competition, maybe not so much.

Happy (Thirsty) Thursday, y’all!
