Ronald Acuña Jr. homered two more times while Ozzie Albies put up another four hit game to help the Atlanta Braves to an 8-4 win over the Miami Marlins.
Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos discussed a variety of topics with The Athletic’s David O’Brien including Austin Riley’s injury and the team’s plans for the final stretch of the season. Anthopoulos said that the team was committed to winning and would consider adding a prospect like Ian Anderson to the roster if the situation called for it.
Injured Braves outfielder Nick Markakis is in Miami with the team for this weekend and told the AJC’s Gabe Burns that he is still targeting mid-September for a return.
The Phillies placed outfielder Jay Bruce back on the injured list Friday with a flexor strain in his left arm. Bruce had just returned from the injured list where he had been out with an oblique injury. Adam Haseley was called up to replace Bruce.
It is safe to say that Josh Harrison’s time in Detroit did not go as planned. The Tigers gave Harrison his unconditional release on Friday as they will focus on giving playing time to their younger players down the stretch. Harrison appeared in just 36 games this season before suffering a hamstring tear.
The Mets signed free agent second baseman Joe Panik on Friday and designated Adeiny Hechavarria for assignment. Panik was released by the Giants earlier this week.
