Keuchel passed his physical and is scheduled to start for Gwinnett on Saturday night

The Atlanta Braves announced on Friday night that they have signed Dallas Keuchel to a one-year deal. Here is the tweet they sent around 10 p.m. ET officially announcing the move.

Keuchel, 31, will earn $13 million through the end of the season and be eligible for free agency once again in November.

Keuchel joins the Braves with a career 3.66 ERA across 1,200 innings, all of which came with the Houston Astros. His market never really developed over the winter for a variety of reasons, and he opted to wait until the MLB Draft passed to lose the draft pick compensation attached to him.

The veteran southpaw will wear No. 60 with the Braves. Weather permitting, he will debut with the Gwinnett Braves on Saturday night.

In an interesting note from The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, Keuchel will be called up no later than June 18. One would assume that would be enough for two rehab starts and then a debut with the Atlanta Braves in late June.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Braves moved Darren O’Day to the 60-day injured list. I’d imagine the move was retroactive to earlier in the season on the chance O’Day is able to pitch this year.
