Braves unable to overcome early deficit, lose to Dodgers 5-3

The Dodgers jumped out to an early lead, and did not relinquish it in spite of home runs from Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis. Those accounted for all three Atlanta runs, which were not enough to overcome the five that Los Angeles scored against Kevin Gausman in his 4 13 innings of work.

Kevin Gausman suspended five games and fined for throwing at Jose Urena

After the festivities in Miami on Friday, Major League Baseball announced on Monday that Braves right-hander Kevin Gausman would be suspended for five games and fined for attempting to hit Jose Urena. Everyone with some semblance of a brain stem knew that Atlanta would retaliate against Urena for his actions last season when he hit Ronald Acuna amid a torrid series against the Marlins. Gausman, however, missed his target. He tried, he failed, and now he is suspended for throwing at the legs of his nemesis. He is appealing, and now we await the results of that appeal.

The Braves offense has been astoundingly good
