Atlanta’s bullpen blows another late lead in 6-3 loss
Mike Soroka turned in another solid performance on the mound but a late comeback by the Cardinals resulted in a 6-3 loss. The two teams will meet again on Sunday in the rubber match of the series.
Braves involved in federal investigation of MLB activities in Latin America, per report
The Washington Post reports that federal investigators have issued subpoenas for its records related to scouting and signing activities in Latin America. The investigation also seems to be centered former Atlanta GM John Coppolella.
Inciarte’s back ‘still barking’ after 10 days on injured list
Injured Braves outfielder Ender Inciarte was eligible to be activated from the injured list on Saturday but it appears that he will be out for a while longer. The AJC’s Gabe Burns reports that Inciarte still hasn’t resumed baseball activities and that his back is still giving him problems.
Braves option reliever Sobotka to Gwinnett
The Braves made a minor roster move on Saturday reinstating reliever Chad Sobotka from the injured list and optioning him to Triple-A Gwinnett. Sobotka made 13 appearances with the Braves before going down with an abdominal strain.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reports that the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Yankees are both interested in adding free agent starter Dallas Keuchel. Rosenthal reports that Keuchel and closer Craig Kimbrel are both expected to sign after midnight on June 2 at which point they will no longer be subject to draft-pick compensation. The Rays have also been in contact with Kimbrel as well as most of the NL East.
George Springer Placed On 10-Day IL With Hamstring Injury
The Houston Astros have placed outfielder George Springer on the injured list with a Grade 2 hamstring strain. The team recalled outfielder Derek Fisher to take Springer’s place on the active roster.
Still No Timetable For Alex Wood’s Return
The Cincinnati Reds are hopeful that left-hander Alex Wood will be able to begin a rehab assignment soon but there is currently no timetable for his return to the majors. Wood has been bothered by a back issue since February.
