The Atlanta Braves will wrap up a long road trip on Sunday when they complete a four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Braves are 5-4 on the current trip after scoring back-to-back wins in Arizona on Friday and Saturday. Max Fried will try to make sure they return to Atlanta with a winning trip.
Fried making Sunday’s start didn’t appear certain after he was struck with a line drive in the second inning on Tuesday against the Dodgers. However, x-rays came back negative and he has reported no issues while making his side sessions. Fried has been one of the team’s bigger surprises this season posting a 2.97 ERA and pitching into the sixth inning in four of his six starts.
Arizona will counter with right-hander Zack Godley who will be returning to the rotation after a stint in the bullpen. Godley allowed five hits and two runs in six innings against the Braves at SunTrust Park back on April 17. He allowed 11 hits and nine runs in 6 2/3 innings in his next two starts and was pulled from the rotation. He picked up a save in a scoreless inning this past Wednesday in Tampa.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET and the game can be seen on Fox Sports South.
