The Atlanta Braves announced several transactions prior to Sunday’s series finale against the Mets. The team optioned left-hander Sean Newcomb to Triple-A Gwinnett following Saturday’s game and also placed closer Arodys Vizcaino on the 10-day injured list due to inflammation in his right shoulder. The recalled right-handers Jacob Webb and Dan Winkler from Gwinnett to take their place on the active roster.
The #Braves today recalled RHP Jacob Webb & RHP Dan Winkler from @GoStripers & placed RHP Arodys Vizcaíno on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 11, with right shoulder inflammation. The club also optioned LHP Sean Newcomb to the Stripers following last night’s game.

Newcomb lasted just 1 1/3 innings in Saturday’s start allowing five hits and four runs to go along with two walks. He’s now allowed 15 hits and eight walks in just 12 1/3 innings this season. He has struggled to miss bats since the spring and will now head to Triple-A to work on things. Touki Toussaint will likely take his place in the rotation.
Vizcaino has appeared in four games this season allowing three hits, three walks and one run while striking out six in four innings. He hasn’t pitched since April 7 against the Marlins when he allowed a game-tying home run to Curtis Granderson in the ninth.
Both Winkler and Webb began the season with Gwinnett. Winkler hasn’t allowed a run in three appearances. He appeared in 69 games out of the bullpen in 2018. This will be Webb’s first appearance on the major league roster. He has allowed one run and struck out five over four innings for the Stripers.
