Fangraphs released its Atlanta Braves Top 32 prospect list today, and fortunately Ryan Weber was no where to be found.
There are no huge surprises on this list, but there are certainly differences than other major outlets, including another favorable ranking for the helium-fueled Ronald Acuna and a surprising top 10 miss for lefty Sean Newcomb.

11:44 Update — A few thoughts:
- Longenhagen has the Braves with 12 players who have a future value of 50 (Major League average) or better. That’s incredibly good.
- According to this list, Christian Pache is the team’s toolsiest player with current 70-grades on both his speed and his arm. With those grades, it’s no surprise that Longenhagen had him crack the top 10 and said Pache had “arguably has the highest ceiling in this system of any player not named Kevin Maitan.”
- Travis Demeritte pegged with current 60-grade power and 60-grade defense at second with the chance to be a plus-plus defender. That’ll play at the keystone.
- With Longenhagen being high on Pache, that naturally means he’s a bit lower on some other players. The one that stuck out to me was Austin Riley, who others (most notably Keith Law) have also been down on of late: “But at just 19, with some general stiffness to his actions, Riley is pretty likely to kick over to first base as he matures. The adjustments he made last year were encouraging, but reports from late in the year indicate some vulnerability on the outer half, and it’s going to be difficult for him to clear the offensive bar at first base with his current contact profile.”
