Alex Wood wasn't happy with home plate umpire Mark Carlson who ejected the Braves' left hander in Sunday's loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Braves starter Alex Wood was ejected during the fifth inning by home plate umpire Mark Carlson for arguing balls and strikes. As Wood headed to the dugout, he voiced his displeasure to Carlson who responded by sending Wood to the showers as he passed.

Wood talked about the incident after the game and said that he didn't feel that he was getting the same borderline calls as Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole.

"I thought [Gerrit Cole] was getting some pitches throughout the game that we weren't," Wood said. "Especially when you're sitting down in the tunnel with the AC, watching it on the TV and when hitting myself.

Wood's walk to Cole in the fifth helped start a three-run rally that ended up being the difference in the game. He admitted to voicing his displeasure to Carlson, but didn't think his actions warranted an ejection.

"As I was walking away, I guess he decided that it was going to be good to throw me out of the game, which I didn't think was appropriate," Wood said. "I didn't try and show him up, didn't say anything to him during the inning, didn't even know I got tossed until I got up into the clubhouse."

Wood allowed three runs and seven hits over five innings of work before being ejected. He struck out five and walked just one and fell to 4-3 on the season.
