depending on how many teams there are…that team is really good, plus the upside is insane.

Rating your teams
I’m guessing you really like M. Montero this season? LOL
For your Fly Like An Eagle squad, if Wainright is 100%, that could be a sick pitching staff.

Eh, I got autopicked Montero as a backup, but I do like him as a solid catcher. The top 2 guys are usually going for ridiculous prices, so Montero has been a solid $10 or so pickup. I actually think the Bonafide or Bonafacio pitching staff could be outrageously good.

Could be, yeah. I’m not crazy high on Romero, nor Haren (his pre/post All Star splits are outrageous), but it could be better than what I believe it’ll be.
About my dynasty team above, I missed the draft 6 years ago, so I got stuck with all the aging vets, so I had to rebuild the team through waivers and trades between now and then. I’m so young, but given who I just scooped up this year in waivers (Profar, D’naud, Arenado, Skaggs, Cole), I like the looks of things in a couple of years. I may struggle this season, though.

Harden’s 2010 was actually a stronger 2nd half than 1st half, and his 2011 second half was still a tremendous pitcher. His final numbers are always tremendous, and if that staff pans out, I can flip him for any need I have partway through the year.

You ask this question to an individual with a Ron Swanson avatar, when you too have a Ron Swanson avatar? My point is…shouldn’t a person with a Ron Swanson avatar already know why someone with a Ron Swanson avatar might of said what he said. Ron Swanson.
Also, they are in the same TC fantasy league. A league where the most sarcastic of sarcastic TC’rs go to be as unfriendly as possible to each other.
Good spot for my favorite Ron Swanson quote, “I once worked with a man for three years and never got to know his name. He was the best friend I ever had.”

I will answer all the questions that have been posted below as well in one succinct (ish) post.
First off, there are a ton of these leagues all over the place. Many of these leagues are hosted on proboards, and the stat keeping is either old school using spreadsheets or are hosted on another website (yahoo, espn, we use CBS bc it is the most customizable).
I found a league with 55 man rosters, when my buddy and I who run the league decided we wanted a league with 55 man rosters… we realized there were way too many unowned players in our league and we wanted to remedy that. It makes it really difficult. We werer talking yesterday, the problem is once you discover a prospect you are too late, bc most likely someone else saw the same information as you did. It makes it really difficult.
It is a great league, and there are a couple of openings if anyone was interested just let me know)
And yeah JD Drew will be off my team at some point this year, but since i have to pay half his salary if i release him, he is gonna stay on my roster until I can trade him in a deal where I take on salary or I need the cap room/ roster space.
CBS allows you to have as many rostered players as you can, to my knowledge they have the widest breadth of fantasy player pools out there, which helps us.
I do want to point out that being in this league actually makes me dramatically worse in standard leagues. I struggle to gauge the market, bc I am used to players like Christian VIllanueva being a hot commodity (I have gotten trade requests every day for a week trying to get him), whereas he isn’t even close to be a worthy prospect in any standard league. I am usually a year early in a standard league when trying to mine for prospects.

great info
I’m guessing it’s a keeper league.? I’ve always wanted to do one, but don’t really know where and how to start.
by Braves24 on Mar 1, 2026 11:49 PM EST up reply actions
it’s a little different than a keeper league. Keeper leagues usually only allow you to keep a small list of guys. We designed this league to mimic real life issues that GMs face. Every team has a salary cap, and then tags that you use on your players when their contract runs out. We have FA all year long. And there is a draft every offseason in order incorporate newly drafted players and other minor leaguers who are as of then unowned.
its a lot of work, but can be a lot of fun (except for when you run the league you have to try to appease 30 GMs opposed to the normal 12).

This is a genius concept... I would LOVE to be involved...
I am currently in a NFBC league w/ 50 roster spots and no FA or trade during the year… Very excited about that one. I feel like I have enough depth to be a contributor in a “MLB style” league.
I know exactly what you mean about the overvaluing prospects/players who are still a year or two away. I do that in my keeper league all the time.

I too would love doing this. It’s probably too late for this year for me (I don’t think I have enough time to prep for a new league like this unless the draft is like, on the last day possible before the season opener in Japan), but if anyone remembers the demand for this next season, woo.
by Ivan the Great on Mar 2, 2026 1:16 PM EST up reply actions
we already had the draft and we are started FA this week (we do our offseason FA by position so it is spread out over a couple of weeks)

Where in Pujols’ name did you find a fantasy league hoster allowing you to have 30 team leagues with 55-man rosters?
Also, I really hope it’s not a 5×5 league as after the first 250 players or so 5×5 stats become really hard to come by from the roster of available players.
With that said—hot damn I want to do that.
by Ivan the Great on Feb 29, 2026 8:44 AM EST up reply actions
You don't need a host site
You can keep it on a proboards page or other message board hoster, and then do the scoring on yahoo/espn/cbs/whatever

My thoughts
OF is weak, though I like Rasmus and Tabata more than two of the OFers you have in starting roles, so you may be okay in the end.
I’m a big fan of plugging in high-K middle relievers to finish my pitching staff, but Jurrjens is a guy I am staying away from in fantasy leagues this year. I’ll cheer for him on the team, but he’s not a great fantasy pitcher under normal circumstances. I also prefer to use 2 of my 3 bench spots on pitchers if possible as it’s much easier to toss away a pitcher than a hitter.

And I would prefer more flexibility with my bench hitters… a guy like Kendricks, or even a lower tier guy like Infante or Wigginton can be plugged in to multiple spots and I love that. I want at least one guy with great position flexibility, preferably something up the middle.

Agreed
…but I noted that he had a couple such players in his starting lineup, so if Espinosa figures out how to hit over .250 while giving 20/20, Young becomes a Util guy that can fill in at multiple positions. Bonafacio, Murphy, and Young can all play 3B, and Bonafacio is able to spell Castro at SS. That’s why I wasn’t too upset with his bench, though if Scutaro is around and you could spin Bourjos for him, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

I agree
The draft was an odd one. Outfield bats went immediately, which is why I picked up Pujols in the 6th position of the first round. After seeing the HR and RBI guys being snatched, I decided to try for stolen bases and K’s. I always try to dominate a couple stats, making trades easier as I go. Granted this is only my 3rd fantasy season. Hopefully we can keep these discussions going, I’m already learning a lot!
I picked up JJ in the next to last round hoping he has a good first month or so. I plan on unloading him if I can

Dynasty team update - wheelin' and dealin'
Alas, it looks as though Venters will be jettisoned from the roster. I just acquired J. Soria. I had to give up Trumbo to get him, but considering he’s a backup at whichever position I’d put him, I traded away a strength to fill a weakness. Also keep in mind that this league is big on OBP (Trumbo - .297 last season) and errors count against you (I didn’t make the league, so don’t ask).

You’ve never seen rage until you’ve seen a fantasy player’s head-to-head weekly win be taken away two days later because an official scorer changed an initial error ruling (for an opponent’s player) to a non-error.

I have for a long time now, wanted to do a defensive stats only league. You would still have pitchers, but the stat categories for position players would be put outs, assists, caught stealing, that short of thing. I would love to have it use advanced statistics.

The problem is
…defensive statistics are still quite a work in progress, and in the case of assists, you get hurt by having a guy with a good arm because no one tries to run on him anymore.

We have assists in this league as well
and I’m not a crazy fan of it, but hey, it’s a category and I’m in the league, so I have to work with it. Basically, come Sundays, if I’m close in that category, I’ll usually sneak in someone at UTIL that’s an infielder, just to add one more into the lineup.

…because it happened to me in this league a few times. It cost me the playoffs last season.

Yeah. After a few leagues of stuff like that, I just now outright refuse to play in leagues with “stupid” stats or other ridiculousness.
I was in a league last year where both hits and .avg were included, but there weren’t any other categories that were so blatantly correlated that way, so drafting guys that walked a lot actually hurt you. Ugh.
