Chipper shows up to camp "Rounder"

Looks like chipper needs to cut back on some calories so he can slim down before the season starts. Hopefully this won't effect his play at third too much. His signature barehand across the diamond might be taking a little longer. Gotta be tough to stay in shape at 40 though. Im still confident he will be productive this year though. But atleast we know he still looks good in the new uniform.

I’m guessing Chipper enjoys his fair share of beer during the offseason. Any guesses as to which? Miller High Life?

Haha

He must have missed a couple of work outs when he stepped in that hole and rolled his ankle.. Probably top ten most tragic deer season injuries in braves baseball history

Sick four-day-old photo that’s been posted here about 10 times since it was put online…

Just made himself tougher to kidnap.

Yeah, this pic has been posted a couple times on TC, but I feel obligated to comment on each one.

I can’t remember if it was a Javy Lopez GBDP or one of Dan Kolb’s horrible outings that resulted in the pinnacle of my Braves related anger. Nevermind, it was definitely Danny Kolb. To top it off, we traded freaking Jose Cappellan for him. Cappellan didn’t turn out to be much, but damn what a prospect.

Yep...

absolute whale-like proportions there.

Eh, whatever, he’s done it his way his whole career, I’m not gonna judge him.

I’ve always thought he looked a little like Mitch McDermott. You’re right.

According to Chipper:

"Thing is, I’m seven pounds lighter than I’ve ever been in camp, and now I’m fat. I weigh 226, 227. Usually I’m 235."

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, uh, your opinion, man. -The Dude

Weight is still an arbitrary number

The adage “muscle weighs more than fat” argument comes into play here. I weigh more than I did in high school and college, but I also wear a smaller pant size compared to back then.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

I agree with the points you made. However, I have to wonder; how did you manage to gain weight and yet wear a smaller pant size? That has to be very rare. I’ve gained weight [10-15 pounds in 10 years] and it resulted in going up a pants size or two. You must be on some kind of soylent green diet.

1 pound of muscle is much smaller than 1 pound of fat. Simply converting a rather fatty body to muscle would result in significant slimming.

by ToBeTooGreat on Feb 25, 2026 10:14 AM EST up reply actions

If I knew the specifics I'd be doing informercials

But as the first response said, I was a lot fattier at one point, and then I started going to the gym pretty hardcore. At first the excess weight shedded, but eventually I hit a wall of actual weight loss, but my physical appearance, namely the waist size kept dropping to where I am about now. Since about then, I’m not so much concerned about my weight as much as I am concerned about being able to fit into pants.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

As you can see by the post time in the reply, I was insomniac-ing my way around the interwebs and couldn’t put two and two together, at the time. It all makes plenty of sense now.

ok hes not jordan schafer skinny

and its a little bit of an optical illusion. look at that big league stew article with the pic of chipper the next day. its just some wind and some trick of the eye

by MacsGlasses on Feb 24, 2026 1:02 PM EST reply actions

The wind whipping his shirt made the middle look thicker in that shot.

And, the socks paired with the long shorts made his legs look shorter, thus heavier.

Looks like the same Chipper we’ve seen in the past few years to me.

Meh

I did change my fantasy team name to “Chipper’s Muffin Tops” because of this.

We'll trade you for Cheryl Tunt. Tome again? Still nothing?
