UPDATE: X-rays on Albies’ left knee were negative, according to the team. A big relief for the Braves.

Ozzie Albies left Tuesday night’s game against the Dodgers in the 5th inning after fouling a ball off his left knee cap. It did not look good as Albies immediately dropped to the ground and was carried off the field by team trainers when he was unable to put any kind of substantial weight on the knee.

Here’s video of the freak injury:

As you can see in the video, the ball hit Albies just above his left knee cap — an area with zero padding to protect from an incoming baseball at high speed. He was in immediate pain and remained on the ground for a couple minutes before being helped off by the team trainers.

We will await word from the Braves on the extent of Ozzie’s injury. For a team that has suffered crushing injury after crushing injury this year, we can only hope it is nothing major and Albies will be back soon.

Stay tuned for updates.
