Tomlin is in his third season with the Braves but has largely struggled this go around. He has essentially worked in a mop up role and has appeared in 35 games while posting a 6.57 ERA and a 4.66 FIP in 49 1/3 innings. Tomlin’s last appearance was on August 18th where he allowed five hits and five runs in just two thirds of an inning against Miami.
Santana was optioned to Gwinnett Sunday to clear a roster spot for Ian Anderson’s return. He has appeared in 36 games this season logging a 3.82 ERA and a 4.65 FIP in 37 2/3 innings.
The Braves will have two additional roster spots to work with starting Wednesday when rosters expand to 28.
