This will be Contreras’ first appearance on the big league roster since July 5. He was hitting .204/.278/.387 with a 76 wRC+ at the time of his demotion. He has performed well in 32 games at Gwinnett hitting .313/.368/.583 with eight home runs and a 150 wRC+.
It was a whirlwind 24 hours for d’Arnaud who signed a two-year extension, homered in Friday’s 3-0 win over the Orioles and is now leaving the team for the birth of a child. He missed three months of the season due to a torn ligament in his thumb and returned to action on August 11. In six games since his return, d’Arnaud is hitting .292/.414/.625 with four of his seven hits going for extra bases.
