The Atlanta Braves are adding a fresh arm to the bullpen for this weekend’s series against the Washington Nationals. Brian Snitker confirmed following Thursday’s loss that Kyle Muller was going to be optioned back to Gwinnett. The team announced the corresponding move Friday morning recalling right-hander Jacob Webb from the Stripers.
The #Braves today recalled RHP Jacob Webb from Triple-A Gwinnett after optioning LHP Kyle Muller to the Stripers following yesterday’s game.— Atlanta Braves (@Braves) August 13, 2021
Webb has appeared in 18 games for the Braves at the Major League level posting a 4.74 ERA and a 4.60 FIP in 19 innings. He has appeared in 20 games for Gwinnett where he has a 2.21 ERA and a 1.65 FIP in 20 1⁄3 innings to go along with 28 strikeouts and just six walks.
Muller struggled for the second straight start and will head back to Triple-A to work on things. His rotation spot won’t come up again until Tuesday in Miami and Huascar Ynoa is the odds on favorite to take that start. Ynoa completed his third rehab appearance Wednesday in Gwinnett.
