Anyone else notice a kind of phenomenon where a player — especially a pitcher — is fighting hard to stick. They finally go on a definitive run but then get injured. Before the injury, they are still in arrival and stick mode. But if someone gets that far before getting injured, it’s all but assumed they’ll come back and be a solid major leaguer. The point is, before the injury, even during the good run, the psychological flip from arriving player to major leaguer hasn’t happened. We are seeing it with Ynoa, but it feels like a recurring phenomenon. Wondering if anyone else has noticed or has thoughts? Not like Ynoa won’t have to be good when he comes back, it’s more about the way players are categorized by the club and media. Or. Ha. It could Abe a psychological phenomena totally unique to me. That’s why I’m asking.
