The Atlanta Braves announced several roster moves this morning in advance of Monday’s series opener against the San Diego Padres. The team recalled left-handers Kyle Muller and Sean Newcomb while also placing outfielder Ender Inciarte on the injured list.

Muller was sent down right before the All-Star break where he could remain on turn with Gwinnett. He will start Monday’s game and has been impressive in three starts allowing a total of five hits and four runs in 14 2/3 innings to go along with 19 strikeouts during that span.
Newcomb has appeared in 23 games with the Braves this season and hasn’t seen much success. He was demoted in late June as his command struggles have persisted. While he has racked up 29 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings this season he has allowed 18 hits, 14 runs and walked 19. In four appearances at Gwinnett since his demotion, Newcomb has allowed four hits and two runs but has just one walk and nine strikeouts in four innings. With A.J. Minter demoted, Newcomb figuring things out would be a shot in the arm for the Braves.
No word on Inciarte’s ailment which could mean that it is COVID related. Inciarte hasn’t played since making a pinch-hitting appearance on July 10 against the Marlins. He is hitting .215/.276/.316 in 79 at-bats this season.
Update - The Braves confirmed that Inciarte has been placed on the COVID list and added that he has tested negative.
Inciarte has been placed on the COVID-19 injured list, but he has tested negative for the virus.
