The Braves are always searching for bullpen options. Other than the signing of Shane Greene in May, the Braves have been seemingly kicking the tires on a lot of bullpen arms in the bargain bins across the league. Per the Braves and Kiley McDaniel:

The Braves have acquired RHP bullpen arm Ty Tice from the Toronto Blue Jays for cash considerations. Tice had thrown 7 innings with a 5.14/5.42/6.28 clip this season before he was cut loose by the Blue Jays. He primarily throws a 94 MPH fastball with a 87 MPH slider, but also has a 80 MPH curveball. He is relatively fresh from the minor leagues and has all three options remaining. He was primed to make a debut in late 2020, as in 2019 he was sporting a 11.12 strikeout rate and 4 saves from 26 appearances in Triple-A. But he appears to be another (fringy) prospect that the lack of 2020 season had derailed.

The Blue Jays don’t appear to need him, as their relievers have put together a 3.45 ERA in 2021. The difference in FIP from Braves and Blue Jay relievers is but a quarter-run, but in ERA the gap is 1.44. He will be welcomed as yet another option to be utilized from Gwinnett as the Braves look to settle their bullpen. Welcome, Ty!
