The Atlanta Braves announced Wednesday that they have recalled left-hander Kyle Muller and placed left-hander Tucker Davidson on the 10-day injured list with left forearm inflammation.

Davidson was left Tuesday’s start in the third inning with forearm soreness and was to undergo an MRI examination. This will be Muller’s first stint on the Major League roster. His season got off to a rocky start with Gwinnett but he has pitched better of late. Muller has a big time arm but also questions in regards to his command and control. He currently has a 4.60 ERA and a 5.20 FIP to go along with 41 strikeouts and 19 walks in 31 1/3 innings at Triple-A. He has allowed one run or less in four of his last five starts but has lasted more than five innings in just one of those outings.
Davidson’s early exit forced the Braves to use both Sean Newcomb and Josh Tomlin in Tuesday’s game. This could be a situation where they are simply adding a fresh arm as Muller was scheduled to start for Gwinnett. However, we will have to wait and see if that is his role or if they have something bigger in mind.
