The Braves will be swapping out some relievers, and a familiar face is coming back to Atlanta.
Johan Camargo will begin his second stint in Atlanta on Tuesday. Victor Arano and Jassell De La Cruz will be returning to Gwinnett as well. This move has the Braves one player short, which will likely be filled with Tuesday’s starter. It confirms that we will not have a bullpen game, but rather either Kyle Wright or Bryce Wilson is likely.
The Braves aren't ready to announce who will start Tuesday. Fried will be pushed back to Wednesday and Morton to Thursday. Would guess they'll go w/ Wilson or Wright on Tuesday. Smyly could then be pushed back to the Brewers series.— Mark Bowman (@mlbbowman) May 10, 2021
Johan has been excellent in AAA last week but less than excellent in Atlanta, picking up only one walk in twelve plate appearances. Orlando Arcia and his three home run game in Gwinnett yesterday will be left in AAA to hopefully repeat the performance. Arcia is on the 40-man roster, however, so perhaps we will see him at some point.
Neither Arano nor De La Cruz appeared in any games in their short stay. They will leave the empty sunflower seeds behind and hop back on the Gwinnett shuttle for now. As far as Tuesday starter is concerned, Talking Chop will keep you posted.
