Sorry, internet yellers....this isn’t the Shane Greene deal that you have been shouting about (that guy must be asking for crazy money to still be unemployed).
One would be excused if you thought that the Braves were largely done with moves at least until we get closer to the trade deadline. Early season moves, in particular trades, are not that common and the Braves had already brought back Carl Edwards Jr. and Jesse Biddle to presumably fortify their depth at reliever down at the alternate site.
As it turns out, they are still looking to be active.
The #Braves last night acquired RHP Edgar Santana from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for cash considerations and optioned him to the club’s alternate training site.

If you didn’t know or remember Edgar Santana, you would be forgiven since the guy hasn’t pitched in the major leagues since 2018. First, he had Tommy John surgery that cost him the entire 2019 season and then last year he had to serve out an 80 game PED suspension. It is worth mentioning that that suspension is still in effect and he will have to miss the first 20 games of this season.
In his career (88 appearances), the righty reliever has posted a 3.31 ERA with 74 strikeouts and 24 walks in 84.1 innings of work.
