Chris Martin is expected to be fine and is listed as day-to-day after he was removed from Sunday’s appearance with tingling in his fingers, according to Dave O’Brien of The Athletic. After additional evaluation, it was determined he did not need to undergo an MRI.
Martin, who has dealt with a variety of minor injuries since being acquired at the 2019 trade deadline, will hopefully be back in action sooner than later. With Monday’s game being postponed and a scheduled off day on Thursday, the club may opt to keep him out of the series in Washington to insure it’s not a bigger issue.
After not bringing back Mark Melancon, Shane Greene and Darren O’Day during the offseason, Martin will assume an even more important role in the Braves’ bullpen. Losing him for any lengthy period of time will be a significant hurdle for Atlanta to overcome, so let’s hope this was an isolated issue and won’t hold him out for too long.
The Braves and Nationals will begin their three-game set on Tuesday afternoon at 4:10 p.m. ET.
