Charlie Morton will make his (hopefully) triumphant return to being a Brave against the Phillies led by Zach Wheeler. He will look to help the Atlanta club to a road win, to bring the team’s record back to .500 after a frustrating Opening Day loss.

This game will be the second of a three game series, as the Braves look to bring the series level and force a rubber-match for Sunday. It would certainly be helpful for Atlanta’s attempt at a fourth straight NL East title to avoid starting the season 0-2, especially against a division opponent.

Morton had a bit of a down year in a tiny sample size of 38.0 innings pitched, but posted a still solid 4.01 ERA with a 3.45 FIP. The 37 year old veteran had a downtick in velocity at the beginning of the season, as he dealt with some shoulder issues, but regained his velocity as the season went on and pitched very well in the postseason.

The Phillies’ starter Zach Wheeler had a career year by ERA with 2.92, but was pretty normal by his standards (still very good) in the peripheral stats. Wheeler should be a tough matchup for the Braves’ offense, because he is a good pitcher. The offense will look to put up more than the two runs that they could muster on Thursday against Aaron Nola.

The game is set to start on Saturday at 4:05 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on Bally Sports Southeast and Fox Sports 1.
