Davidson’s last start in the majors came on June 15 against Boston when he suffered a forearm strain. He was essentially sidelined for the remainder of the season but did make one final start for Gwinnett on October 3.
Prior to the injury, he pitched well a 3.60 ERA albeit with a 4.52 FIP in 20 innings. He allowed five runs over three innings to the Red Sox before exiting with the injury so that skews his numbers slightly.
The Braves were never going to be able to replace Morton’s production but had several different options. Going with Davidson gives them another left-handed multi-inning arm that could conceivably slot in as a bulk guy in a bullpen game.
