The Braves had an eventful Monday. First, they learned that Cole Hamels will not return for the remainder of the season. He was shut down and removed from the playoff roster pool. Then, the club went out and beat the second-place Marlins to extend their division lead and get one step closer to the postseason.

Braves bullpen steps up, pulls out 5-4 win over Marlins
Huascar Ynoa allowed three runs in the top of the first, which only set the stage for the Braves offense, who scored four runs in the bottom of the first. The Atlanta bullpen too over in the fourth inning, still clinging to a one-run lead, and proceeded to fire six innings of one-run ball. The Braves offense went quiet after an early barrage, but the bullpen was good enough once again as Atlanta won 5-4.
Braves place Cole Hamels on 10-day IL with shoulder injury, ending his season
The Braves are down another starter after the news of Cole Hamels returning to the IL surfaced on Monday. The left-hander will exit after throwing just 3.1 innings for Atlanta. From a Braves perspective, this season was very Kardashian-esque for Cole Hamels: he got paid a lot of money to do absolutely nothing.
Bryse Wilson to start for Braves on Tuesday following Cole Hamels injury
With Hamels going down, the Braves will utilize Bryse Wilson in his stead. The club has turned to Wilson on multiple occasions, but have not gotten great results. Hopefully he can showcase his talents on Tuesday.
