After another short outing by Touki Toussaint on Monday and with a makeshift bullpen game scheduled for Tuesday, the Atlanta Braves are adding another fresh arm to their pitching staff. The Braves announced Tuesday morning that they have recalled right-hander Jasseel De La Cruz. Toussaint was optioned following Monday’s game.

This will be De La Cruz’s first stint on the major league roster. De La Cruz is an intriguing prospect with a big arm. He has battled injury through the early part of his minor league career but put together a solid 2019 season where he began the season at Low-A Rome before advancing all the way to Double-A Mississippi. He posted a 3.83 ERA in 87 innings to go along with 73 strikeouts at Mississippi. De La Cruz was ranked ninth on Talking Chop’s preseason Top 30 list.
