This Day in Braves History: July 15

1956 - The Braves sweep a doubleheader over the Pirates winning, 3-2 and 4-1. Hank Aaron goes 1-for-3 with a walk in the second game which is the start of a 25-game hitting streak which would be his longest of the season.

2011 - The Braves defeat the Nationals, 11-1 to record the 10,000th win in franchise history dating back to the 1876 Boston Red Caps. They are the third team to reach that milestone joining the San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs. Tim Hudson allows seven hits and one run over seven innings to pick up the victory. Martin Prado returned to the lineup and delivered a three-run home run in his first action since June 9.

2012 - Ben Sheets returns to a major league mound for the first time in just under two years allowing two hits while striking out five in six scoreless innings against the Mets. Freddie Freeman homers and drives in three runs to back Sheets in a 6-1 win.
