We continue to take a day-by-day look back at the major events in history of the Braves. As always, we would like to thank Baseball-Reference and NationalPastime.comfor providing the background information for these articles.

1961 - The Milwaukee Braves fall to the Pittsburgh Pirates 9-1 at Forbes Field. Hank Aaron hit his ninth home run of the season to help avoid the shutout. Warren Spahn lasted just four innings allowing nine hits and six earned runs. Roberto Clemente goes 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, one of which landed under the 436-foot sign.

1976 - After an error ignites a six-run rally for the San Diego Padres in the eighth inning, Atlanta owner Ted Turner invites the 2,994 fans watching to come back the next night as his guests. The Braves would lose 10-7 with just two of those 10 runs earned.

2006 - Dayton Moore leaves the Braves’ front office to join the Kansas City Royals as the team’s new general manager replacing Allard Baird. The Royals would finish 62-100, reaching 100 losses for the fourth time in five seasons. Moore would oversee a long rebuild that would culminate with a World Series win in 2015.
