2021 MLB Draft order set, Braves will pick 24th

Major League Baseball has decided that the 2021 Draft order will be determined by reverse order of the 2020 final standings according to a report by the Boston Globe’s Alex Speier. The March agreement between the owners and the players gave Rob Manfred the power to modify the draft order should the regular season be less than 81 games. After a 60-game regular season, Manfred had the option to modify the draft order but ultimately elected to leave things the same.

That decision will give the Atlanta Braves the 24th pick in the first round. The Pittsburgh Pirates will have the No. 1 overall selection and will be followed by the Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles. There will be just 29 picks in the first round as the Houston Astros will be forced to forfeit their first round pick for part of their punishment for the sign-stealing scandal.
