Braves knock off Dodgers behind good bullpen performance
Josh Donaldson and Adam Duvall hit back-to-back homers while Shane Greene and Mark Melancon preserved a one-run lead with a pair of shutout innings to help the Braves to a 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Atlanta will try to secure a series win in the finale on Sunday.
Ender Inciarte expected to miss 4-6 weeks
The Braves will be without outfielder Ender Inciarte for 4-6 weeks after an MRI exam performed on Saturday revealed a Grade 2 hamstring strain. Inciarte was injured while running the bases in Friday’s loss to the Dodgers. Atlanta recalled outfielder Adam Duvall from Gwinnett to take Inciarte’s place on the active roster.
Braves get encouraging injury news on Dansby Swanson, Austin Riley
Despite the news on Inciarte, the Braves did get some good news on the injury front. Dansby Swanson took ground balls on the field prior to Saturday’s game and is ramping up his activity in his recovery from a heel injury. Austin Riley also ran on Saturday and reported no discomfort in his injured knee. MLB.com’s Mark Bowman reports that both players could be back on the active roster before the end of the month.

Dodgers’ Urias suspended for 20 games
Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias accepted a 20-game suspension under the MLB’s Joint Domestic Violence policy. The suspension will include the five games that he missed while he was on administrative leave during the middle of May. Urias will be eligible to return on September 2 and will be eligible for postseason play.
Jake Arrieta To Undergo Season-Ending Surgery
Phillies right-hander Jake Arrieta will undergo surgery to have a bone spur removed from his elbow later this month and will miss the remainder of the season. Arrieta has been hampered by the injury since early summer and tried to pitch through the pain but has struggled for the most part this season. He signed a three-year, $75 million deal prior to the 2018 season.
David Robertson Undergoes Tommy John Surgery
The Phillies also announced that reliever David Robertson underwent Tommy John surgery and will miss all of the 2020 season. Robertson signed a two-year $23 million deal with Philadelphia this past offseason. He pitched just 6 2/3 innings before going on the injured list.
Red Sox Place Chris Sale On 10-Day IL With Elbow Inflammation
The Boston Red Sox placed left-hander Chris Sale on the injured list Saturday with an elbow injury. The injury was originally described as inflammation but Dave Dombrowski told reporters that this is a new injury and that they will seek a second opinion from famed orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews.
