Sources indicate that the Braves have signed veteran shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria, according to Mark Bowman.

Atlanta has struggled to adequately fill its shortstop vacancy with Dansby Swanson injured, and today signed Hechavarria in an effort to mitigate the defensive blunders that have been so costly in recent days. Hechavarria was released by the Mets earlier this week after batting just .204/.252/.359 in 142 at-bats this season, but has historically been a solid defensive shortstop.
To make room for Hechavarria, the club demoted Johan Camargo to Triple-A Gwinnett. The 25-year-old had battled issues at the plate throughout the season and was a liability at shortstop in place of Swanson. In addition to demoting Camargo, the Braves sent down outfielder Adam Duvall and recalled right-handed pitcher Bryse Wilson.
