Braves rally late, hold on to defeat Padres 7-5
Josh Donaldson and Ronald Acuña Jr. both homered again but it was Ozzie Albies’ run-scoring single in the 10th that was the difference in a 7-5 win over the Padres. Luke Jackson made things interesting in the 10th, but the Braves were able to nail down the victory and clinch a series win.

Friday was the deadline for clubs to sign their 2019 Draft picks. The Braves ended up signing 36 of their 41 picks including all of their Top 26 and 34 of their first 35.

Nationals Place Max Scherzer On Injured List
The Washington Nationals placed ace right-hander Max Scherzer on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to a mid-back strain. The move is retroactive to July 10 and the hope is that a few extra days of rest will be all Scherzer needs.
Red Sox acquire Andrew Cashner from Orioles
The Boston Red Sox acquired right-hander Andrew Cashner from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for a pair of minor leaguers on Saturday. The Red Sox are hoping that Cashner can help solidify their starting rotation down the stretch.
Matt Kemp is a free agent again after the Mets released him from his minor league contract earlier this week. Kemp appeared in just eight games and logged 36 plate appearances hitting .235/.278/.324 for the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate. He began the season with the Reds but released before signing a minors pact with New York.
