Julio Teheran continues to impress in thrilling 1-0 win over Marlins

Julio Teheran allowed just two hits and struck out five over six shutout innings to help the Atlanta Braves to a 1-0 win over the Miami Marlins on Saturday. Tyler Flowers’ sacrifice fly in the seventh inning accounted for the only run of the game. The Braves will go for a sweep on Sunday with Max Fried on the mound.

Snitker named to NL All-Star coaching staff

The Braves have their first All-Star representative. Brian Snitker will be part of Dodgers manager Dave Roberts’ coaching staff for the National League squad.

The Marlins placed left-hander Caleb Smith on the injured list Friday due to inflammation in his hip. The injury isn’t thought to be serious and the hope is that Smith will be able to return to the mound soon.

More bad news for Rays’ right-hander Brent Honeywell who will miss the remainder of the season after fracturing a bone in his right elbow during a bullpen session. Honeywell underwent Tommy John surgery in April of 2018 and was working his way back when he suffered the injury.

The San Diego Padres have an agreement with first round pick C.J. Abrams. The deal is reportedly worth $5.2 million which is about $500K under slot value.
