The Braves have seven players named as 2019 All Star finalists

Braves fans are going to have lots of work to do to stuff the ballot box during the second round of All Star voting.

With the 2019 All Star vote, some changes to the voting process were put in place. Normally, there was only one round of voting to determine the starters for each league’s All Star roster and that system did lead to some interesting results given that some fan bases were particularly adept at stuffing the ballot box.

This year, there is going to be two rounds of voting to determine the All Star starting rosters with the second round being cut down to the top three vote leaders at each position (top nine for the outfield). The Braves had been performing very well in the voting updates leading up to tonight’s announcement of the finalists with a Brave seemingly in contention at every position.

We now know who the Braves will have in the running for starting All Star spots.

Freddie Freeman, Josh Donaldson, Ozzie Albies, Dansby Swanson, Brian McCann, Ronald Acuna Jr., and Nick Markakis all were named finalists as starters for the 2019 All Star Game. Before folks get up in arms, Austin Riley debuted too late to appear on the ballot.

All-Star pitchers and reserves will be named on Sunday, June 30 at 5:30 PM Eastern.
