Move clears a roster spot that will likely go to Dallas Keuchel

MLB: Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves announced Thursday morning that the team optioned right-hander Huascar Ynoa back to Triple-A Gwinnett following Wednesday’s win over the New York Mets. Ynoa was recalled on Wednesday when Sean Newcomb was placed on the 7-day concussion list. Ynoa didn’t pitch in Wednesday’s game but threw two scoreless innings in Sunday’s win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Braves didn’t announce a corresponding roster move but it is significant in that it opens a spot for Dallas Keuchel to make his Atlanta debut on Friday. Brian Snitker said earlier this week that it was likely that Keuchel would debut in this weekend’s series against the Nationals. That will likely come in Friday’s series opener against Stephen Strasburg. Mike Foltynewicz and Mike Soroka are penciled in to start Saturday and Sunday.
