The Atlanta Braves are finally in the win column in 2019 after an 8-0 win over the Chicago Cubs in their home opener at SunTrust Park. Ozzie Albies finished with three hits as the Braves took advantage of some shaky defense by the Cubs. Sean Newcomb only lasted four innings but four relievers combined to allow just three hits and zero runs over the final five innings.

Josh Donaldson finished with two hits and turned in the defensive highlight of the game when he fielded a ball that deflected off of Dansby Swanson and fired to first in time to nab the runner.

Sean Newcomb only lasted four innings but he held the Cubs scoreless to help the Braves capture their first win. Newcomb allowed six hits and four walks but no runs while throwing 91 pitches.
