This season has been an up and down one for Julio Teheran, but thankfully for the Braves he’s been trending back up of late. With the Braves coming off a huge win against Max Scherzer they have to feel some kind of confidence brewing as they face Jeremy Hellickson today.
Teheran has saved his best work for last this season and has pulled his ERA back down below 4.00. For a guy who is closing in on his sixth consecutive season of over 180 innings pitched the fact that Teheran is pitching his best ball of the season late is very encouraging moving forward. There were worries that his arm was toast earlier this season when he was struggling to get 88 on his fastball, but thankfully those fears have been quelled and Julio is hitting his stride at just the right time.
Hellickson is just coming off the disabled list, but was pitching decent baseball before his injury. Hellickson owns a 3.57 ERA over 88 innings in 2018, but only has 66 strikeouts in 88 innings which is concerning when facing a team like the Braves who love to get the barrel on the baseball.
To say September has gone incredibly good for the Braves so far would be an understatement. They’re 7-3 over their last 10 and the entire lineup is getting hot at the perfect time. The perfect storm is brewing in Atlanta and the rest of the NL has to be terrified to face this team in any playoff series. Matinee baseball is headed your way.
