The Braves are shuffling their bullpen ahead of Wednesday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays:

This will be Kolby Allard’s fourth stint as an Atlanta Brave this season. He has made three appearances (one start) for the big league club and has not fared well, with a negative K%-BB% mark and very gruesome 308 ERA-, 228 FIP-, and 181 xFIP- figures in eight innings of work. Allard last appeared in a game a week ago, where he threw three innings in a start for Gwinnett, allowing three hits, a walk, and zero runs.

Chad Sobotka, meanwhile, will be returning to the minors for the first time since being added to the 40-man roster earlier this month. He made six appearances spanning seven-and-a-third frames for the big league team, posting a wild 40 percent strikeout rate and a 92 ERA-, 126 FIP-, and 70 xFIP-. In short, he acquitted himself quite well in his short stint, but allowed homers in each of his last two outings to mar his line a bit. The first run he allowed as a major league pitcher was a garbage time solo home run in the ninth of a 6-0 game, but he allowed a more costly two-run dinger last Saturday to Miami pinch-hitter Brian Anderson, which ended up being the deciding blow of the game after the Braves scored a run in the ninth.

Sobotka will return to weirdly uninspiring peripherals (3.97 FIP, 4.90 xFIP) at Gwinnett, where he has made six relief appearances after starting his year in High-A ball with the Fire Frogs.
