For the third time in 2018, a highly-regarded Braves pitching prospect will make his major league debut against a division rival. For the time time in his career, Touki Toussaint step onto a major league mound, and face down the Miami Marlins. He joins Mike Soroka, who debuted against the Mets on May 1, and Kolby Allard, who debuted against these same Marlins merely two weeks ago.

Touki’s opponent for his first big-league start will be Pablo Lopez. Lopez will face the following Braves lineup:

This will be Lopez’s 8th career start, and first against the Braves - accordingly he has never faced any of these Braves professionally. He has allowed at least one home run is 6 of his first 7 starts.

With any luck, Ronald Acuña will be able to continue his remarkable work for the leadoff spot (.333/.393/.716, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 8 HR, 18 runs scored, .461 wOBA, .383 ISO, 193 wRC+ since moving to the top of the order), and Freddie Freeman will be able to extend his 13 game hit streak. Charlie Culberson will start at shortstop in place of Dansby Swanson, and Kurt Suzuki will catch Touki in his debut.

Meanwhile, Toussaint’s will be greeted by the following lineup:

With this being Toussaint’s first start, this is obviously the first time he has faced any of these Marlins at the professional level. Of all teams to build his confidence, the Marlins could be the best possible option at the current time - since August 1, they are slashing .201/.238/.295 as a team.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:35pm EST.
